I grew up in Chicago, Illinois and received my B.S. Ed. and M.S. Ed. degrees from Southern Illinois University in 1969 and 1970. With stars in my eyes and a willingness to try to "save" humanity, I then began teaching, traveling from inner city to inner city around the country and Virgin Islands for a number of years.
Disillusioned, in 1976 I changed my occupation and began traveling around the United States as a craftsperson attending craft shows selling my hand made work. I also began experiencing and studying different philosophies and healing modalities: energy healing, past life therapy, and more.
In 1976 I was given the name "Nirado" by my spiritual teacher, it means cloud of love, and I then began my study of Eastern Religion and meditation with Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (as he was known at that time and then renamed Osho). I traveled to India to be with him for 3 months, returning to my travels and eventually becoming director of an Ohso Center. I met my life partner, Kaveen, at the Osho Ranch in Oregon, and several months later I left with him and moved to North Carolina in 1984 where we began living what we had been learning, it was time to bring our wisdom to the world rather than being separate from the world.
In 1986 I woke one day to a "knowing" it was time to be a potter. After 12 years of hard but loving labor as pottery can be, I hurt my back badly and knew I could no longer do pottery work because of physical limitations and took the opportunity to go deeply inward. I began honing my telepathic abilities with animals doing intense training in animal communication. I also studied and mastered a process called Holographic Repatterning. I added the healing energy of Reiki to my healing modalities and eventually received my Masters Attunement. It was during this process that my connection with "guidance" became solidified and a large part of my healing practice. I began integrating the use of gemstones in my work as well as Reconnective Healing, Wholistic Animal Care, Herbs, Flower Essences, and a diploma in Animal Homeopathy from the British Institute of Homeopathy.
Once I started playing with gemstones, I started creating ways to wear them, for humans and animals. Then began my exploration and playfulness in creating gemstone jewelry. It seems I can't stay away from them. Going to a gemstone show is like Disneyland for me. The glitter, the sparkle, the irredescents. Whew, Kaveen hopes he doesn't have to mortgage the house when I go. :O)) But I can't help myself. When I take home the little gems, I hold each of them in my hand, feeling their energy and beauty. Eventually I begin slowly creating something beautiful in Silver to showcase them in.
I hope that you enjoy my creations and will find one you can't stay away from.
